Saint Joseph Icon Print

St. Joseph, like many of the early saints, does not have a canonization date, but his feast day is March 19th. Joseph is never quoted in Scripture, but he is shown to be a caring husband and a devoted father while guiding his family from Bethlehem, Egypt, and finally to Nazareth.

In 1870, Pope blessed Pius IX declared St. Joseph the patron saint of the universal Church. Joseph is also the patron of families and craftsmen. Here, St. Joseph is seen with the white lily, the symbol for purity. The words in his halo, ‘Father, Protector, Consoler’, emphasize his role in the life of Christ, and the Fleur-de-lis in the top-right corner shows his devotion to Mary. This image was requested by a beautiful woman who had a great devotion to St. Joseph. Later, the image was duplicated at the request of an exorcist who requested that the wording be in Latin. AMDG!
