Christ the High Priest
Christ the High priest is shown wearing the green vestments of Ordinary Time, painted in the more traditional Byzantine style. He holds the Host above the Chalice in the same way that the priest does when celebrating Mass, as a reminder that it is through Christ’s consecration of bread and wine at the Last Supper that the sacrament of the Eucharist was instituted. On the hands of Christ are the marks of the nails by which He was held to the cross, a reminder of how the mass is the un-bloody offering of Christ’s suffering and death on the Cross.
The letters in Christ’s halo mean ‘The Existing One’ showing His divinity.
The text at the bottom of the icon says ‘Priest of God, celebrate this mass as if it was your first mass, your last mass, and your only mass’.
This image is a popular gift for priests.

These prints can be placed directly into the frame without glass giving you a beautiful glare free print.
