Our Lady of Vilankanni / Good Health Our Lady of Good Health first appeared to a young boy in Vilankanni, India. He was on a long walk to deliver buttermilk, when a woman carrying her child approached him and asked for some buttermilk to give to her child. When the boy arrived at his destination, he saw that the pot was replenished and brimming with buttermilk. Later, Our Lady appeared to another young boy. After asking him for buttermilk, she cured his lame leg and sent him with a message for a man in Nagapattinam, asking him to build a chapel in Vilankanni.
The feast day of Our Lady of Good Health is September 8th, along with the Feast of the Nativity of Mary.
This image is one of a group of eight commissioned for the Duke University Newman Center. The priest sponsoring this project wanted to feature the Marian apparitions which were most important to students from different countries around the world. Students from many countries were interviewed to select these eight apparitions of Our Lady. Together, the display is called Our Lady of The World, and the many ways that Our Lady has appeared to us remind us of her universal motherhood to all believers.
The eight images are: Our Lady of Aparecida, Our Lady of Czestochowa, Our Lady of Lavang, Our Lady of Manaoag, Our Lady of Kibeho, Our Lady of Vilankanni, Our lady of Lourdes, and Our Lady of Guadaloupe. AMDG!
